Hip-life music sensation Rough & Smooth are lacing their boots for what is expected to be an electrifying live performance at the upcoming Ghana Music Awards ceremony in Accra.

The programme, which comes off on Saturday 10 April, should be the biggest ever, organizers say.

Rough & Smooth, who have risen to stardom on the backs of their single hit Swagger, say they are "roughly" doing their indoor rehearsals for a "smooth" performance at the Accra International Conference Centre.

The duo has been nominated for Best Afro Song award and, according to them, the recognition by Charter House, organizers of the awards, is recognition of their efforts.

“We feel great because it hasn’t been easy for us. We’ve been underground for so long so for Ghana Music Awards to recognize us like to nominate us, means we are doing very well. We feel very great,” they told Joy News' Kwaku Obeng Adjei on Thursday.

“We believe that everybody in there deserves it that’s why they are there…Everybody deserves it so if we get it we deserve it.”

The duo’s performance comes after a recent tour of the United Kingdom where they performed at various events in London and Wales.

Perhaps what has spawned the spread of the Swagger flavour across the country and abroad is the rare privilege they enjoyed when Welterweight contender Joshua Clottey used Swagger as his entrance song.

With their name becoming a household one, Rough & Smooth believe there is a biggest task of sustaining their stardom and “hit-making” splendour.

This requires a fine mix of hard work and determination, and they stress, they cannot be complacent in the face of the high expectations Ghanaians have of them.

“We don’t have complacency in our dictionary,” they indicated.

But watch out! Because Rough and Smooth should soon release their album with the Swagger hit featuring prominently in it.
