Despite claims by some producers that hiplife is doing badly on the music market, there’s one young artiste who is striving to see the growth of the genre.
Paul Yeboah aka Yanfire is currently out with his second album, ‘Ghanaman Ba Pa’.
The young man released his first album about two years ago, but like many up and coming hiplife artistes he never had it easy breaking through due to poor management and financial constraints. “I did not have that capacity to promote the song and you know how it is in this country. You have to pay a lot of money both officially and unofficially to get your songs promoted through our various electronic media,” he told Beatwaves.
Yanfire’s determination to become a star saw him taking a break to learn more about the industry and improve on his skills before coming out with the next album, the result of which is this eight-track album - Ghanaman Ba Pa.
One of the interesting tracks, Meni Egyina Wo, a mid-tempo song with high life rhythm, talks about how the singer had missed his lover and wished she was by his side. The instrumentation has been neatly done to blend with the smooth singing and soul touching lyrics.
Another track which will leave music lovers in a frenzy is Me Hemaa, in which the artiste uses flowery adjectives to describe his partner; The beat is sure to get listeners dancing.
Ghanaman Ba Pa is a song which is certain to remind one of his responsibilities towards his country; with a latent way of urging Ghanaians to be patriotic.
Yanfire sees himself as a true son of Ghana who cherishes highlife music and believes it has great influence on the success of hiplife music.
Paul hails from Sunyani in the Brong Ahafo Region and is a graduate of the Sunyani Senior High School where he read Science. He was born a little over twenty years ago to Madam Margaret Gyasewaa and Mr. Kwabena Yeboah. Apart from music, Yanfire has a dream of pursuing further studies to become more enlightened and multi-talented in the near future.
Other tracks on the album, which was produced on the Twum Barima Records label owned by Nana Kweku Barima are Dee Mi Pe Nono and its remix version, Mi Da Edem, Wo Ko Ye Akye and an instrumental version of Me Hemaa.
