When Agnes Opoku Agyemang emerged onto the Ghanaian music scene in 2002 with yi m’adesua (shed my load), little did Ghanaians know that God was going to take off her supposed load and raise her to the feat she enjoys today.
Having appreciated what God had done she decided not to turn back, but go as high as she could. Due this decision, she came out in 2003 with the award-winning album, mensan m’kyi (I would not turn back), with enjoyed massive airplay and sales and was the best female vocalist of the year in the 2004 edition of the Ghana music awards.
Not relenting on her effort, Aggie has come out another album, which she is using to warn all, and sundry about the need to repent from their sins in other not to miss out on the judgment day.
This album is entitled mehunu y’anka (had I known) and it is enjoying lots of airplay on both radio and TV in Ghana now.
Aggie was born on August 24, 1978 in Kumasi to Mr. Opoku Agyemang Simon and Mad Mary Nyarko both farmers from Agona-Jamasi. Being the eighth among ten she says life was not easy in her younger year.
She had her elementary education in Kumasi and learnt hair dressing afterward. Her singing attributes started when she started singing in church from age twelve, also a very good songwriter by 1998 she had written all her songs and was ready to come out with her maiden album. In 2005, she got married to Pastor Kudjo minister with Fire chapel in Kumasi.
She likes to pray as pastime and enjoys eating boiled plantain with garden eggs stew. |
